Things have been really crazy around here. I took a week off from the site two weeks ago. I needed to have some 'me' time. I did some reading, some cross-stitching, working in the garden, a little bit of sewing. It was really nice. I didn't even watch the soaps all that week. I watched talk shows and court shows, or just listened to music. Last week, I came back to the site fully refreshed and ready to work. This week I am having problems with my system (I think due to an update to Windows) and can't even get in the site. My email is just building and building. It will take me a week to catch up. We have found someone to be my assistant though, so that should help a lot.
Around here there has been more working in the garden and yard work for Charles. We have started our horseback riding lessons. We have had two so far. We are really enjoying it. The garden has taken off really well, along with the weeds in it. It is an un-ending battle to get the weeds. We were able to have a wonderful salad tonight with our homegrown lettuce and spinach. My first husband's step mother was an awesome cook. Everything she made was mouth watering. I had my first wilted spinach salad at her house. I remember watching her go out to the garden and cut the spinach fresh. It was soooo good. That will be my next project. I wish I had paid more attention to what she put in it and how she made it.
Charles got the french drain dug and finished out. It looks good. We will just have to wait for a good rain to see if it will work like we want it to. Charles got a picture of the racoon that likes our cat food last night. Sucker is HUGE. I will be updating our personal web page with the new pictures in the next week or so. We bought a new light fixture for the kitchen that has the same leafy theme the light in the dinning room has. I am so much happier with it than with the old lighting. The people that lived here before didn't like 'light'. All the fixtures and lighting in the house was sooooooo dark. We are gradually fixing that.
Bentley came to town last weekend and we missed him. We were out running errands all day and weren't able to hook up with him. Hopefully he will be able to come back to visit again soon.
I haven't seen Jan for a couple of weeks now. I have talked to her on the phone. I really miss her. There is a re-enactment of the Battle of San Jacinto this weekend in Houston. We are going. I am hoping that Jack and Jan can go too. I love things like this. I know we need to work in the garden again, and we really need to get the rye grass tilled up and the bermuda grass planted, but we also really need a weekend off to do something fun too.
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary on the 13th. I can't believe we have been married for 10 years. In some ways it seems like 30, in other ways it seems like 1. I know I look forward to the next 10 years though. I have never been happier in my life.
Oh!! I forgot to tell you. We finally had to break down and buy a new camera. A couple of nights after we got it, Charles was trying to learn all the features and took a picture at night out in the front yard just to see how the lighting feature worked. About a week later, we were looking at the pictures on the computers. We were surprised to see what looked like orbs, so we went out and took more pictures and looked again, after cleaning the lense off really well. (Okay, I can see Suzanne going 'Oh Good Lord!!!!' right now..LOL) Anyway, we have tons of orbs out here. Only some areas of the property though. Some shots had NONE, some had a few, one shot had a TON of them. I will get those pictures posted this next week too.
For now, I think I will go vent on 360 again. I love this country, but sometimes I wonder why.
